    Un grupo de empresarios invirtió sus recursos y abrió el Hotel Galvez en 1911 como símbolo de que la isla de Galveston había resistido la devastación de la Gran Tormenta de 1900. Este elegante hotel frente al mar fue inmediatamente proclamado el "Rey del Golfo" y al cabo de un año tras su inauguración, la revista Hotel Monthly lo catalogó  como "el hotel junto al mar mejor organizado y mejor amueblado de los Estados Unidos". El hotel ha sido objeto de varias renovaciones para restaurarlo a su grandeza original. Recientemente, como parte de la celebración del centenario en 2011, los propietarios completaron una renovación de $11 millones mejorando todas las habitaciones y restaurando las ventanas que dan al Golfo con ventanas operables de luz dividida que recuerdan el diseño original del hotel.

    El histórico hotel de 224 habitaciones incluye seis suites. Todas las suites y dormitorios cuentan con vistas al Golfo de México o a la ciudad.
